Cute Suits

Swimwear shopping is usually a pretty miserable experience for me, but this year’s suits have me keyed up for my summer suit spree. I admire designers who can turn a classic, flattering cut into a unique piece and the bathing suits I’ve seen thus far are right up my alley. The 2009 swimwear from designers like Betsey Johnson, Libelula, and Cia.Maritima are all about bright colors, unique embellishments, and wild patterns.

This year, I’ve got my eye on anything Columbian designers Catalina Alvarez and Mariana Hinostroza are turning out. The brand is Agua Bendita and the suits are all handmade head-turners. All the Agua suits are made with super-bright avant guard fabrics with hand-stitched detail; some have sequin embroidery, others incorporate crochet pieces and crazy cut-outs, and they all have a playful stylishness that cannot be ignored. And as the weather heats up, keep this tip in mind: unless you want a hideous and unsightly tan line, be sure to stay out of the sun if you’re planning on sporting a one-piece with cut-outs. Check out some of my favorite 2009 swimsuit picks on my Kazowie Sexy Swimsuit shopping guide.

Mini Dress Mania!

Despite the fact that I’m the complete opposite of petite, I am the biggest fan of the supertight micro-mini dress. Not only does it keep me way cooler than a pair of jeans would during a long night of dancing, but it makes getting ready for a night on the town speedy and effortless. Honestly, what could be easier? Dress, earrings, shoes, purse, go. I love it.

If you’re a mini dress virgin, there’s no need to fear! Minis come in many different styles: skin tight or baggy, casual or dressy, solid colored or patterned, day dress or night wear. The majority of minis I’ve included in my Kazowie guide, however, are form-fitting, solid colored night wear (my fave), and I want them all! These garments are usually paired with a hot pair of black heels (shoe style, heel height, and color depends on the season and the dress, of course,) and are always worn with a pair of black boyshorts underneath! (Because I don’t know about you, but I’d rather have V.P.L. than visible anything else!) Check out my Kazowie Mini Dress list for a look at some sexy lil dresses and more tips on how to accessorize your favorite minis!

A Valentine’s Day to Remember

A close friend of mine and I were discussing the upcoming holiday together this morning; the infamous February 14th. Valentine’s Day. This holiday could be easily named the most insufferable holiday of the calendar year. On the other hand, if you’re lucky enough to have snatched up a keeper, your Valentine’s outlook might be a bit different. (Of course, Valentine’s Day isn’t just a celebration of “romantic” love. It’s a perfect excuse for a girls’ or guys’ night out!) By the end of our conversation, we had come to the conclusions that:

1. Valentine’s Day can be fun regardless of whether you’re hooked up or flying solo, and that
2. It’s not difficult to make an effort to show your loved one(s) that you care!

My friend suggested cooking your partner a meal based on a family recipe that you love or, if the relationship is on the serious side, passing down a family heirloom to your Valentine. There’s no need to spend big bucks either. In fact, the best gifts usually cost little or nothing at all. Start thinking now about what your intended Valentine(s) likes and appreciates; be resourceful and original, be funny, be yourself. I’ve added some cool V-Day gifts to Kazowie that might help jumpstart your creativity. Check them out for ideas: Pamper Her for Valentine’s Day and Valentine’s Gifts for Him, and have a Happy Valentine’s Day!

Breakfast of Champions

In a perfect world, I would be able to eat breakfast at every meal.   Nothing fancy- just any variation of the lovely, classic morning combo: eggs, toast, and bacon.  In my quest for all things breakfasty, I found this amazing crocheted breakfast scene on etsy.com

I also found some time-saving, space-saving, amazingly cute breakfast items that will ensure a great start to any day.  I don’t think you’ve lived until you belong to the Bacon of the Month Club.  Check out the rest of my list:   I Love Breakfast

Spring Sandal Chic

The end of Winter signals the coming of Spring, and the coming of Spring signals the emergence of sandals, sandals, sandals! Once the weather starts warming up, it’s time to pack away my snow boots, go get that pretty pedicure, and give my tooties some much-needed wiggle room. I think I’m so keen on sandals and flip flops because they’re the closest thing to going barefoot. Don’t get me wrong, I love shoes. I appreciate a sexy shoe. I appreciate a well-made, comfortable, reasonably priced sexy shoe even more (because of its extreme rarity). Tennies are supportive and comfy, wedges and pumps are hot, but if I could go barefoot every day, I would.

When checking out my ‘fit in the mirror, I often find that even the cutest pair of shoes can overpower the clothes, especially that full-length hippie skirt or cute flowy sundress. Thankfully, it’s easy these days to find flat sandals with minimal straps, buckles, and bands that create the illusion of being barefoot, while protecting the soles of your feet, however minimally. For comfort, my absolute favorite click clacks are plain black Reefs. And walking in B.O.C. thongs is pure heaven. For style, I’m into t-straps, toe bands, intricate beadwork, natural, minimal designs, leather, and earth tones. Check out some of my favorite picks for Spring ’09 on my Kazowie Flip Flops and Sandals buyer’s guide.
